QUEEN KWONG: Always had the punkrock chops, but now a performer at the height of her powers.

Who is Queen Kwong? Only Dissention Record's latest signing, and there's a buzz of excitement around this bit of news, both, inside and outside the label's walls. You see, it's very rare to find a band that resonates so well with what we're about here, and Queen Kwong doesn't disappoint.

We first met the band through their current drummer, Hayden C. Scott (AWOLNation), who also sat in on some RedRacer recordings out at Rancho De La Luna Studio. Hayden invited us along as Queen Kwong were in London for a free 4 show residency in the capital earlier this year leaving packed audiences mesmerised by the sheer power and savagery of the band’s superb brand of punk rock.

We were instant fans.

We soon learned that Trent Reznor discovered the group’s leader, Carré Callaway, when she was just 17, and Carré has since been turning heads wherever she goes with unforgettable live shows and DIY releases. 2015 has already seen Queen Kwong sell out 4 London shows in a week, perform a special Maida Vale session, and the band were one of Zane Lowe’s last ever spins on Radio 1.

Sultry and sinister in equal measure, Carré is joined on stage by Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, former Marilyn Manson bassist Fred Sablan and, of course, Hayden who effortlessly create eerie swathes of raw psychedelic guitar, backed by an absolutely killer rhythm section. This pedigree line up causes intrigue to many a rock fan, but it is Carré’s uncanny gift to combine menace and sure-fire confidence that are leaving audiences wanting more…

“Her rawness and charisma remind me of a young Iggy Pop or Patti Smith at the peak of their careers. Queen Kwong’s volatile stage persona, no doubt sits in the lineage of such primal acts as The Stooges, Nirvana, Swans, even Queens of the Stone Age. Her songs and stage show are a blatant protest at the “sanitization” of Rock in recent years. Queen Kwong’s work stands out from the sea of rubbish I keep hearing on the radio. Carré embodies the true and uncompromising spirit of Rock”

- Roger O'Donnell (The Cure)

Queen Kwong are on their first US tour supporting Failure. They will return to the UK in August for their Leeds/Reading Festival slots in support of the eagerly awaited debut album, 'Get A Witness', due for release August 28th. Carré and Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line) wrote & recorded the album in record time, spending about a day on each track with no more than 2 takes per track. We had to hear it. And when we did, we had to release it.

Kerrang! Magazine exclusively premiered 'Cold Daggers' (LISTEN HERE: http://www.kerrang.com/30979/queen-kwong-premiere-new-single-cold-daggers/) and the single's video was exclusively premiered by powerhouse VEVO.

Queen Kwong has always had the punkrock chops, but now she's a performer at the height of her powers. Don't miss the opportunity to catch a live show. It could possibly be a life changing experience. Yeah. We said it.
